SPRING!
FIIINNNNNAAALLLY!!!! Bye Bye Jack Frost! Lil Jack sure has been feisty this winter. He did far more than his share of nipping at my nose, cheeks, ears, fingers and toes this winter. In fact, he quite overstepped his bounds by jumping under my clothes several times this February.
If you've been braving the weather (especially if you biked all winter long like me) it seems that this winter was 300 days long. Well, brave boys and girls, rip off that coat. Throw down that scarf and bare those arms, legs and toes. Argh! Boy am I pale!!! Ok, maybe shorts only in the garden until my legs lose their flourescent glow.
I am sooo happy for SPRING! I've spent the last few weeks in my windowless office surrounded by cranky kids tired of sitting quietly focused on CSAP. However, one of the perks of working at a school is vacation. Three cheers for SPRING BREAK! I get spend the next 10 days relaxing and enjoying the arrival of Spring to the Foothills.
Everything is waking up, turning green, smelling fresh (except for that faint smell of Greeley in the air every morning). Spring is definitely here and I AM CELEBRATING!!
We've been working in the garden for the past 2 days playin' in the dirt: turning the soil; adding natural supplements; pulling out weeds and remnants of last year's garden. (adios 2006). I'm pretty proud of us. This year we got a much earlier start on our garden. We already have garlic, green onions, chives, sage, oregano, lavender, rosemary and sunflowers growing from last year and tulips, daffodils, crocus and morning glories.
I planted seeds for broccoli, cabbage, eggplant, echinacea, parsely, chamomile plus a variety of tomatoes, and hot and sweet peppers. Those are my garden experiments. I planted them in small containers outside and covered them with plastic hoping that they actually grow outdoors. I've given up on any indoor planting because my two naughty little cats are terrible gardeners. In the ground, we planted carrots, potatoes and onions.
Yes, I AM A NERD! and my garden will so rock if it all works out as planned, so yes, you can call me a NERD again. i am and i love it.
