Falling (out)

She was young, but old enough to know that the earth didn't revolve around her life. Still, sometimes she wished that time would stand still for them. That he and she never had anything else to distract them from each other, but in truth...she was in a lonely relationship and he thought everything was fine.

She never really knew if she loved him even though those little crinkly smile lines around his eyes got her every time. She wondered why other people declared perfect bliss and why they needed to lie about it. She was old enough to know fairytales were just stories and perfection a myth.

She was bored and he wasn't boring. She was too practical to follow her wildest whims. She made due with what she had. She thought that was how life was meant to be. She didn't realize that she wasn't really aware.

His sweetness was bland on her tongue. His happiness only made her want to lash out and hurt him. When he was good to her, she was evil in return. When he was evil, she was even worse. Her words meant to sting his ears, crush his heart, make him fall out, but he only loved her even harder.

She struggled to unwrap him from around her jello fingers, but he found ways to reel her in tighter. She turned to his full face and emptied her deaf heart of his constant thump thump, but still found herself drowning in a lake of nausea. She puked out his guts and he kindly replenished them with lack of recognition.

When she threw him out to the dogs, he came back to lick her wounds. There was nothing that his sticky saliva love couldn't fix...except maybe her.

Falling (in)

She remembered every minute, every scent, every word, every feeling. As if time had stopped, only he and she revolved around each other. There were so many distractions, but not a one caught their attention...they were too full of each other.

She was instantly smitten. She never quite forgot that shy sparkle in his eye nor could she remember what had made her feel happiness before then. She was only sure that this was spring and he everything new and fresh in her life. She knew fairy tales were for kids, but she thought maybe that was a myth.

She was giddy, awake for the very first time that winter. She was about to throw caution to the wind. Somewhere in her mind, "love at first sight" flashed around and she suppressed a giggle.

How sweet the silence between their glances. She tasted nectar and knew she would no longer awaken to the taste of poison. A silent magic caught their ears and cradled them with strange familiar words urging them to just let their hearts fall in.

Butterfly wings causing tiny tornadoes inside her heart. She flew as close as she could and found herself happily entangled in his web. Her crystal laugh waking the dormant spider. He spun his web around her and she sighed, "tighter".

She was stuck; he was dying. She gave him new life; he set her free...together they'd live.

SPRING!

FIIINNNNNAAALLLY!!!! Bye Bye Jack Frost! Lil Jack sure has been feisty this winter. He did far more than his share of nipping at my nose, cheeks, ears, fingers and toes this winter. In fact, he quite overstepped his bounds by jumping under my clothes several times this February.

If you've been braving the weather (especially if you biked all winter long like me) it seems that this winter was 300 days long. Well, brave boys and girls, rip off that coat. Throw down that scarf and bare those arms, legs and toes. Argh! Boy am I pale!!! Ok, maybe shorts only in the garden until my legs lose their flourescent glow.

I am sooo happy for SPRING! I've spent the last few weeks in my windowless office surrounded by cranky kids tired of sitting quietly focused on CSAP. However, one of the perks of working at a school is vacation. Three cheers for SPRING BREAK! I get spend the next 10 days relaxing and enjoying the arrival of Spring to the Foothills.

Everything is waking up, turning green, smelling fresh (except for that faint smell of Greeley in the air every morning). Spring is definitely here and I AM CELEBRATING!!

We've been working in the garden for the past 2 days playin' in the dirt: turning the soil; adding natural supplements; pulling out weeds and remnants of last year's garden. (adios 2006). I'm pretty proud of us. This year we got a much earlier start on our garden. We already have garlic, green onions, chives, sage, oregano, lavender, rosemary and sunflowers growing from last year and tulips, daffodils, crocus and morning glories.

I planted seeds for broccoli, cabbage, eggplant, echinacea, parsely, chamomile plus a variety of tomatoes, and hot and sweet peppers. Those are my garden experiments. I planted them in small containers outside and covered them with plastic hoping that they actually grow outdoors. I've given up on any indoor planting because my two naughty little cats are terrible gardeners. In the ground, we planted carrots, potatoes and onions.

Yes, I AM A NERD! and my garden will so rock if it all works out as planned, so yes, you can call me a NERD again. i am and i love it.
